COURSE DESCRIPTION:
VT 4000 Dynamic Web Development
Upper level curriculum for students pursuing a degree in CIT or for individuals seeking advanced skills in visual technologies or web development. This course teaches dynamic web development using PHP, an open source server side scripting environment, and MySQL, an open source database application. Topics include basic scripts and functions, variables, form processing, server side includes, web database integration, database design, database driven web sites, security, and web management systems. Prerequisites: VT 1400.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:
At the completion of this course, the student will be able to understand and explain the following:
- System environment - server and configuration
- Fundamentals of scripting (PHP)
- PHP functions and structure
- HTML and integrated scripts
- Database fundamentals (MySQL)
- Server side scripting
- Forms, management, and maintenance of dynamic web sites
- Web database design
Your grade will be based on the percent of the total points which you have earned. Your grade will be composed of the following elements.

Grades will be issued on a percentage of total points possible as follows:
94-100% = A
90-93% = A-
87-89% = B+
84-86% = B
80-83% = B-
77-79% = C+
74-76% = C
70-73% = C-
67-69% = D+
64-66% = D
60-63% = D-
Below 59% = F
All assignments, quizzes, and tests are due on the date designated by the instructor.
